    Gnosticism in the
    New River Valley

    This monthly study group will examine Gnosticism as
    a living tradition with a focus on Sophian Christianity.
    We will explore the works of Tau Malachi and key
    Gnostic texts, including: The Gospel of Phillip;
    Thunder Perfect Mind; Pistis Sophia;
    and
    The Secret Book of James.

    Our first session on June 25 will start with a brief
    history of Gnosticism and our first discussion text,
    Living Gnosis, written by Tau Malachi.

    Tau Malachi is the author of many other books:

  • The Gnostic Gospel of St. Thomas: Meditations
    on the Mystical Teachings;
  • Living Gnosis: A Practical Guide to Gnostic
    Christianity; and
  • St. Mary Magdalene: The Gnostic Tradition
    of the Holy Bride.
  • These books, on the Sophian Gnostic tradition, form a body of spiritual and mystical wisdom that reveals a path to Enlightenment in the West, akin to what one might find in wisdom traditions of the East.

    The study group will be led by Laura and Pat George. Laura has studied with Tau Malachi, read the Gnostic Gospels (which were found in Egypt in 1945), and walked in the footsteps of Mary Magdalene in France. Pat has studied the sad history of the Cathars – the Gnostics who were deemed a threat and exterminated by the Catholic Church in the Albigensian Crusade.

    Please come prepared to study as Gnostics – which means everyone will participate in teaching this class. And be ready to share yourself on a deep level as we examine the true teachings of Christ.
